Because Elias is currently in Berlin partying his tight little ass off and Jake lives the life of a married gentleman it’s time to step up or shut up for me. Here is the Wednesday Link Dump again (and because advertising is a bitch without the slightest intention to give me enough time to post on a regular basis, most of it is pretty much obsolete, but anywhoo):
Stefan Sagmeister talks about taking time off (TED). You can start by taking half an hour off and watch this. Ricky Gervais at Jon Stewart. Almost an overdose of funny. How does the universe not collapse when these giants collide? Anthony Hopkins Barclays Big commercial. Because it’s a freaking classic for every copywriter. James Reynolds shot Last Suppers of people who are centenced to death. Scary stuff. Review: Vibram Five Fingers Classic. In your face, Nike. What ya gonna do now? Awesome Project. Now that’s art I can get along with: “We’re leaving disposable cameras around the world. People are picking them up, taking a few photos and passing them on, eventually returning home - so we can tell their stories.” The Disposable Memory Project. Awesomness: Olympus Pen Story + download song for free. And HERE’s the guy, THESE dudes stole the idea from to make an awesome film for Olympus. More brilliant stop-motion film-action, this time with stickies. Sweet: meat. Really nice biodegradable packaging concept for local organic meats. By Chris Chapman. More meat packaging, from Swizerland. By Schneiter Meier Külling. Both via lovelypackage.com Making Of of one of my favorite films this season: Vaseline’s “Amazing Moisture”
Honestly, how could this not have been Sony’s biggest hit to date? It’s so disturbing I want one. Read Steve Henry’s Blog over at Campaign: Mumford & Sons play well good music.
Also live and well good: The Avett Brothers. Via AOL/Spinner.com.
Guiness spot, kicks off new campaign and claim, rebuilds world, nothing less. Watch the big-ass version HERE, plus pretty awesome making-of. Utterly amazing: Face-off with a deadly predator: National Geografic photographer meets leppard-seal, gets feeded with penguins instead of eaten his face.
The arcade concept. Don’t know what they are trying to sell but I’m buying it. Great film.
From August 2009, but still.
Each month, National Geographic magazine features breathtaking photographs in their Visions of Earth section. What an amazing, disturbing world we live in.
The Art and Crimes of Ron English. Enough said. The rest you have to see yourself.
Randy Couture is the perfect testimonial - for basically everything anti-aging. Freak of nature, is this his secret? And even if not, if you are 46 years old and still fighting the best competition on the planet in a freaking cage, you are living proof that something is working. If you don’t testimonial this guy, Nivea, I’ll do it myself. to take over: super smart rats. Stupid human scientists have signed our death warrant.
These ads are freaking me the hell out. Brilliant.
RVCA to support the Baddest Man on the Planet. Why are they doing just everything right? Watch Showtime’s Fight Camp 360°: Fedor vs. Rogers HERE to understand what the hell I’m talking about. It’s been a tough few weeks but tonight I’m going for a beer or two. Have a good rest of the week. Cheers. Sat

While Gina Carrano took the #16 spot on MAXIMs Hot 100 list (ridiculously placed between Katy Perry and Britney Spears, and beaten by Jennifer Love Hewitt, really? What’s wrong with you people?), former UFC heavy weight Champion, Pride fighter and Affliction veteran Josh Barnett hails from a french Vogue fashion shooting, where he seemingly gets his 6 ft 3, 250 lb ass beaten by a lanky model in a bikini. And, oh yeah, the UFC just launched a German version of their website because of the UFC 99 event in Cologne, 13th of june, and gets broadcasted by DSF (which is at least a whole lot better than the rumored cooperation with Pro7). So after the UK and Canada, Germany is the next market to be conquered. And MMA has officially arrived at the European mainstream. I really don’t know what to make of all of this. On one side I always knew that MMA will become a mainstream phenomenon sooner or later and I know it’s good for the sport. But personally I followed the sport for years and even close friends mocked me for that - and now it feels like Fitness First is next to implement an MMA Workout class between Pilates and BBP. It’s like your favorite band that you discovered in a club in Schwerin suddenly lands a number one hit. You are kind of happy for them but you know it’s time to move on when a bunch of retards use your song as their ring tone. Thu
